Haghpat monastery (Arménie/Armenia)
Haghpat (also Romanized as Akhpat and Hakhpat) is a village in the Northern Lorri province of Armenia, close to the city of Alaverdi and the state border with Georgia. It is notable for Haghpat Monastery, a religious complex founded in the 10th century and included in the UNESCO World Heritage List along with monasteries in nearby Sanahin. The monastery is an outstanding and magnificent example of medieval Armenian architecture that has been attracting increasing numbers of tourists. The village itself receives little benefit from these tourists and remains impoverished, with the majority of its residents keeping livestock and growing vegetables for food. Some residents are able to find work in the city of Alaverdi, about 10 km from Haghpat, while others gather berries (mainly blackberries and Cornelian cherry dogwood) from the nearby forests and sell them. Water is gathered from the numerous mountain springs, which are abundant in the area. The village lies on a dissected plateau, a large flat area dissected by deep "cracks" formed by rivers, including the river Debed. The villages of Sanahin and Akner, as well as a part of Alaverdi, lie in plain view on neighbouring sections of the plateau, however a steep and long descent to and ascent from the river is required to travel to them. Haghpat ou Haghbat est un monastère arménien situé dans la région de Lorri, au nord-est de l'Arménie. Le monastère a été construit entre le Xe et le XIIIe siècles. Il est situé dans le district de Toumanian comme le monastère de Sanahin. La chapelle principale a été fondée sur l'ordre de la reine Khosrovanouch, femme d'Achot III d'Arménie. Cette partie fut achevée plus tard par ses fils, les rois Smbat II et Gourgen Ier Bagratouni vers 989. L'église-chapelle principale est dédiée à la Sainte-Croix et précédée d'un gavit construit vers 1201. Le monastère abritait autrefois le mausolée du prince Kuriké III. Très bel exemple d'architecture médiévale religieuse, le site est repris depuis 1996 sur la liste du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO avec le monastère de Sanahin1. Wasser wird aus diversen Bergquellen geschöpft, die es in dieser Gegend in großer Zahl gibt. Haghpat ist durch Haghpatavank , einen Klosterkomplex, bekannt, welcher im 10. Jahrhundert gegründet wurde und zusammen mit Klöstern in Sanahin zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe zählt. Mit dem Bau des Klosters, das unter der Bagratidendynastie entstand, wurde um das Jahr 970 begonnen. Die Fertigstellung des ältesten Teils des Klosters, der Surb Nshan Kirche (Heiligkreuz-Kirche), erfolgte im Jahr 991 durch den armenischen Architekten Trdat. Der Klosterkomplex gehört der Armenischen Apostolischen Kirche. Über das Gelände verteilt finden sich einige Chatschkare (Steine mit kunstvollen Gravuren die meist Kreuze darstellen) und bischöfliche Grabstätten. Der Komplex ist ein herausragendes Beispiel für die mittelalterliche armenische Architektur und zieht daher eine wachsende Zahl von Touristen an, seit einige armenische Reiseagenturen Haghpat in ihren Reiseführern erwähnen.
